Skin Care: To Shave or Not to Shave with Shaving Soaps? That is the QuestionThursday, December 29, 2011 Mary Anne Velasco
Because it’s winter time, I do not bother shaving my legs that much. My legs are covered with warm thick leggings or pants or leg warmers almost everyday. When at home, a pair of long pajamas is a must! Shaving comes into picture only when I feel like doing so. No pressure. No stress.
Summer --- is totally a different thing. Although I love the winter breeze, I have to admit that I love summer more. Summer for me is freedom to wear what I want, when I want to and how I want them on me! Shorts, skirts and dresses become my wardrobe’s best friend while my leggings, leg warmers and at times, denims are kept in boxes until the cold season drops by again.
Exposing my legs during the warm months [Oh, how I wish summer’s already here!] is reason enough to give my legs a shave every now and then. Friends keep on telling me to avoid using soaps when shaving as soaps can dry my skin out. To shave or not to shave with shaving soaps? That is the question! Experience wise, I do go for shaving soaps! No problem, whatsoever.
My shaving routine is simple. I shave my legs towards the end of my hot or lukewarm shower. At this point, my skin and hair are already soft making it easier for my razor to cut the hair, minimizing the possibility of getting scratches and razor stings. With the help of shaving soaps that contain moisturizing and skin softening properties [such as coconut oil, vitamin E and glycerin], shaving is no sweat at all. I always end my leg shaving ritual by applying a generous amount of my favorite lotion. Smooth finish, it is!
How about you? What is your shaving routine? Do you shave your legs the whole year round or does it differ depending on the season?
Have a flawless and silky sleek night everyone!
