Looking Back: Anna Bergendahl in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010Thursday, May 31, 2012 Mary Anne Velasco
After the well deserved win of Loreen in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan on the night of 26 May [finals], Swedes all over the world partied and celebrated all week long. After Eric Saade bagged third place in the Eurovision 2011 Düsseldorf, Germany with his song Popular and Anna Bergendahl’s failure to qualify for the finals back in 2010 in Oslo, Norway, Loreen’s victory was indeed the much-awaited sweet win for Sweden. Cheers to us all!
Looking back: I honestly could not believe why Anna did not make it to the finals in Norway. Her song This Is My Life was well written and the melody was beautifully arranged. Her performance was not over-the-top but cool. Her voice was great. With that golden knee-high chiffon dress, a pair of black leggings, those red Converse shoes, a tiara and her classic guitar, Anna was cute and charming on stage. She had it all and yet, she did not get a spot on the finals.

I went back a few more years and found Anna’s Swedish Idol Audition in 2008 when she captured the hearts of the judges with the song Have a Heart which she performed while strumming her guitar. The talented Anna Bergedahl’s performances on Idol, Melodifestivalen and Eurovision inspired me to learn play the guitar. I will be checking Mel Bay Guitar Method [Grade 1] later today and see if I can get one shipped to Sweden.
Of course, before I get myself a cup of cappuccino, here are Anna’s Swedish Idol Audition 2008 and Eurovision Song Contest 2010 performances:
Have a fantastic Thursday everyone! Hugs from Sweden!
