Dorsett Far East Hotel, Kowloon, Hong Kong

Bebe, Lo [Bebe's best bud] and I spent five days in Hong Kong in August of 2009. I was so blown away when I saw the skyscrapers, the wide roads and the clean surroundings. We found a very friendly van driver (will blog about him later) who drove us to our hotel --- the Dorsett Far East Hotel, located in Tsuen Wan, Kowloon.

Dorsett Far East Hotel is strategically located in the middle of everything. Athough I've read some reviews saying that the Tsuen Wan area is not recommended for first time Hong Kong visitors, I have to say that I disagree.

Dorsett Far East Hotel is the perfect place for first time Hong Kong visitors like us. The hotel is surrounded by four malls, a hospital, a 7 Eleven convenience store, a park, bakeries, restaurants and food stalls, beauty and massage shops, a few meters away from the train station (MTR station) and many more. Everything and every place you need to survive Hong Kong living is just minutes away.

Price wise, it's perfect for our budget. My boyfriend and I have stayed in a superior room which costs HKD340 including breakfast buffet for two. Seems impossible? My boyfriend have gotten a great deal that time. Not sure though how. But do try and check the Dorsett Hotel's special promotion page from time to time. You might also get great deals from them.

Do not expect too much about the room. The room we've got isn't that huge. There's one bed just enough for me and my boyfriend, a wall-mounted telly, a small bedside table, a mini fridge, a tiny cabinet and a mirror. There is barely not much space to move around. There have been times when we've had difficulties getting in and out of the room as our luggages are on the way (not enough space to "park" them). The bathroom is not that spacious but okey. Bathroom facilities include hot and cold shower, clean toilet, towels, hair dryer, shampoo and soap. Free broadband internet access and telephone are also available in each room. Newspaper in English and Chinese are delivered to each room every morning.

Though the room is tiny, it's very clean. Two thumbs up for the cleanliness.

Breakfast buffet is also worth every penny. The food's satisfying, really delicious dishes. Yum!

If your main reasons for visiting Hong Kong are shopping and tourism, then Dorsett Far East is a good place for you to stay. After all, you will be away most hours of each day. Basically, you will only be needing a place to sleep, right? If yes, then Dorsett Far East Hotel is the place to be!
