IKEA-Shopping To The Max

by - Wednesday, July 07, 2010

Barely six weeks ago, my boyfriend, Mamma Lena, Anders and I drove to Gävle, an hour away by car from our hometown. The main reason of our trip was to do some IKEA-shopping!

"IKEA (Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd) is a privately held, international home products retailer that sells flat pack furniture, accessories, and bathroom and kitchen items in their retail stores around the world. The company, which pioneered flat-pack design furniture at affordable prices, is now the world's largest furniture retailer.

IKEA was founded in 1943 by 17-year-old Ingvar Kamprad in Sweden. Currently, the company is owned by a Dutch-registered foundation that is believed to be controlled by the Kamprad family. IKEA is an acronym comprising the initials of the founder's name (Ingvar Kamprad), the farm where he grew up (Elmtaryd), and his home parish (Agunnaryd, in Småland, South Sweden)"

IKEA is my favorite furniture shop. They've got everything we need to make our flat a cozy place to spend most hours of the day. Aside from that, the price tags that come with the products are a lot cheaper compared to other leading furniture retailers here in Sweden.

We arrived in Gävle a few minutes after 1 in the afternoon. Since IKEA was open until 8PM, we agreed to visit Media Markt and Jysk which were located just along the neigborhood of IKEA before finally proceeding to our planned destination.

We arrived at IKEA at 3PM. I was so excited to get in, look around and shop! We spent 4 hours, ?,000 Swedish Crowns [secret! ◕‿◕] and were really satisfied.

On the photo below: The 5 Swedish Crown-combo snacks at IKEA's restaurant--- refillable coffee and a solo-piece of Princesstårta [a spongecake covered with Marzipan] ~~~ delicious!

We stopped by Willy's, Gävle to do some groceries before heading home.

To sum it all, it was a well-spent Friday!
