Happy Year of the Dragon! Kung Hei Fat Choi!
I kinda miss Chinese New Year. We don’t have it here in Sweden unlike in the Philippines where the event is celebrated every year with a bang! For the first time in the Philippine history, Chinese New Year has been declared as a special non-working holiday [23 January] for all Chinese-Filipinos and ordinary Filipinos to enjoy. Wow!
The last time I was able to witness the event was when I flew to Manila for a four-week vacation on February 2010. I actually arrived a couple of weeks late for the celebration but the Chinese New Year spirit was still fresh so it was still awesome. I could still find Chinese lanterns hanging inside the malls, candies wrapped in Chinese paper and other cool festival decorations such as this one:
A fascinating money tree inside SM North EDSA’s The Block which is surrounded with tigers [2010 - year of the Tiger].
Year of the Dragon is my Bebe’s year --- hopefully, everything will turn out better for him [and me *wink*] the entire year and the years to come.
Oh well… I guess I’ll be home to celebrate Year of the Snake with my mom. After all, 2013 is going to be her year!
Kung Hei Fat Choi [May Prosperity Be With You] everyone!
