After the festivities during the holiday season, one will surely dread face the weighing scale, as they will surely have gained weight. For the New Year, living a healthy lifestyle and loosing weight will then be on the top list for resolutions that that people have made to begin their 2013.

One may be eating the right amount of food, taking only the allowed calories per day, and the like but is still having a hard time losing weight. This is because there are a number of factors that can affect your weight loss. Some of this includes the amount of sleep your getting, how often you exercise, your stress level and more.

That is why in order to have a good start with your weight loss plan, one must know first the bad habits to avoid to help you achieve your weight loss goal:

1. Skipping Breakfast.

Someone on a diet might decide to skip breakfast hoping that it will help him or her lose weight. But what they don’t realize is that skipping breakfast has a lot of disadvantages, especially for those on a diet. Skipping the first and most important meal of the day will decrease your metabolism, which leads to fat storage. You will also tend to crave for carbs during the day, which results to eating a lot during lunch and dinner.

2. Not Getting Enough Sleep.

Studies have shown that not getting enough sleep affects the production of hormones that regulates your body’s hunger and metabolism and can lead to weight gain. So whether you are on a diet or not, getting at least 8 hours of sleep is important for a healthy living.

3. Eating your Meals Quickly and with Distractions.

Because of the hectic life that most of us live now, we often have short or quick meal times that we don’t even chew our food properly and savor every meal. Also with all the distractions that we have around us, we sometimes eat in front of the TV or while playing with our phones, which is also not a good habit. If you learn how to enjoy every bite as you eat and you are free from any disturbances, you’ll feel more satisfied which reduces the tendency for you to overeat.

4. Going on a Fruit Diet.

Eating fruits is good as it is a good way to detox but health experts only suggest having a fruit diet 1-2 days in a week only. A diet consisting of only fruits can lead to eating disorders as fruits only contain vitamins and sugar, which is not enough for the body to function normally. This nutrition imbalance makes it also easier for the body to accumulate fat, which is not good for someone who wants to loose weight.
So if you want to start the year right by sticking with your diet plans, avoid these 4 habits, which might be the only thing standing between you and your weight-loss goal.
