5 Reasons to Consider Motorhome Living

by - Friday, September 13, 2019

Whether you already own a motorhome and use it for your holiday, or want to investigate the possibility of living in it permanently. It’s a great way to live for many people, especially for retirees who want to make the most of their retirement. Take a look at these five reasons why you should consider living in a motorhome permanently.

Cut Household Costs

Owning a home is a very expensive job. From bills to upkeep like mowing the lawn and replacing the roof. With a motorhome, your home and everything you own is with you. So all you have to focus on is what you need to run your motorhome. It’s easy to see the benefits of motorhome living for retirees too. With no income coming in, a nest egg can easily be eaten up by household costs like council tax, Sky TV, and heating bills in the winter. However, if you cut these out, you can focus on using that money to enjoy yourself on life experiences.

See The World

Motorhome living is a great way to travel and see places you didn’t even know existed, to begin with. You could be driving down the road and see a sign for an unusual attraction, and you can park up with no fuss, no hotel booking, no stress. The Guardian spoke to Emma Jane Unsworth about why she takes to the road on her own, in a motorhome. After her first trip around New Zealand in a motorhome, she got the bug, and she hits the road several times a year on her own. She says it’s exhilarating being self-sufficient and sees the time away as a detox to romance yourself.

The Weather is Always Good

You don’t have to stick around if it’s raining, motorhome living means you can go where the sun is. As you get older, we tend to pick up more colds and ailments that aren’t helped by cold weather. So it’s worth heading to sunnier climes to enjoy more activities and get a tan in the process.

Be More Active

Being on the road all the time encourages you to get outside and get active. When you’re stuck inside a normal home, you might not have the access to exercise or get outside. It’s not only the perfect way to stay active and improve your physical health but your mental health too. Business Insider spoke about the science-backed reasons why you should spend more time outdoors. Alongside it improving mental health, lowering blood pressure and fighting depression, it can also eliminate fatigue too.

Make New Friends

You never know who you will encounter on your travels. When you stop for fuel, food, or even stopping at a motorhome site. You will find like-minded people and probably end up making amazing friends. It’s possible that you may even end up taking trips with them too. Best of all, you will end up with lasting memories you’ve created in wonderful and exciting places.
